If your child attends a school within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde they will start to receive Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood Education from Primary 1 through to Secondary 6. Rest assured that the messages your child will receive will be age and stage appropriate and in the following sections you can see the outlines of the lessons delivered within non-denominational schools.
Although the programmes delivered vary between denominational and non-denominational schools, they share common themes of safety, respect and an understanding of healthy and happy relationships.
It is acknowledged that parents and carers are the primary educators of their children and as such schools have a responsibility to engage with you on the content and timings of their Relationships, Sexual Health and Parenthood programme and so you should receive information from the school prior to this being delivered. Having access to the key messages being delivered via the school curriculum should hopefully support the discussions you have at home.
