Sandyford Sexual Health Service and NHSGGC Women’s and Children’s Directorate are working together as part of a Scottish Government demonstration project to improve the uptake of contraception postpartum, with an emphasis on provision of very long acting contraception (vLARC). All methods of contraception (including intrauterine and implants) should be available prior to discharge from maternity services. Links to useful professional resources and a complete list of all Sandyford Clinical Effectiveness Group Contraception protocols can be found here.
For further information and professional advice regarding the postpartum intrauterine contraception service please email or call 0141 211 8608. For other general advice and support for health professionals in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde please see our clinical advice section.
